We’re moving closer to Dallas/Fort Worth today. We’ve spent the last five days in the Fort Hood Recreation Area. What a beautiful, quiet location. It’s been the perfect place to get some work done, relax, and get some short walks in. Several acres of lake shore, boating and lots of activity on the lake. Our site is less than five-minute walk from the activities, but you’d never know it was bustling down there. We’re in the woods, on a hill, nice deep, shaded sites. Deer walk the roads here and seem comfortable with people, however they aren’t so tolerant of barking dogs. I kept trying to get a nice photo but Billy chased them away before I could get the camera out.
This is one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve experienced. But it’s time to move on. We’ll be back!
We just completed our first rally. Many thanks to ‘Traveling Robert’ followers, i.e., our newfound friends and patrons. We ate some great southern BBQ, toured The Missions of San Antonio, visited the Tower of Americas, explored the Riverwalk -- walked a lot, laughed a lot, and slept a little. We also sweated a lot with over 100 degree temperatures a couple of those days. We were able to get around on the public buses with help from our campground manager, Fred.
